End of the Season

End of the Season

Silverstone marked the end to a fantastic season of Caterham racing.

Competing on the Silverstone International Circuit, all of the Supersport and R300 races were amazing, with positions changing all the time, and the drivers having to contend with varying weather conditions throughout.  Lee Wiggins gained a trophy with his third place podium position in Sunday’s R300 race, and Steve Day came in 6th in the Supersport race, which left the overall driver standings as follows:

Supersport:

Steve Day P5

Chris Lay P16

John Reid P19

David Briault P21

Chris Wright P22

Rowan Williams P28 (only competed for part of the season)

Ian Hain P41 (only competed for part of the season)

R300:

Lee Wiggins P4

and Stancombe Vehicle Engineering P2 in the Supersport team standings.

Gnomes in Silverstone Pit Lane

Teddy in baby seat

As well as all the hard work the team of drivers, engineers and mechanics had put in for the final race of the season, some humour inevitably creeps in from time to time, such as our gnomes on the “lawn” between the garage and pit wall at Silverstone, a teddy in a babyseat on the passenger side of Briault’s car (long story), ropes around Wrightie’s car the aid set-up, peels of laughter and cheering whenever a driver spun off the track during the test days (checking first that they were OK, of course)!

All this just confirms our theme of working hard and playing hard.

Roll on next year!
